Purpose for preserving:

This region, located 90km south of the city of Riberalta offers a unique mixture of savannas and forests which is prone to logging and over grazing due to the recent easy access by road.  It is of local interest to avoid degradation of these lands, however it is also of importance to make them productive in a sustainable manner.  Unique bird species have also been discovered in these lands.  Wildlife includes panthers "tigres", capibaras, monkeys, etc...

El Carmen:  Due to Bolivian Law that requires the land to be productive in order to maintain them, a system of organic ranching has been implemented in these savannas.

Organic ranching - free grazing cattle in natural savannas without injections of hormones or anti-biotics.  A balance for the sustainability of the natural savannas is maintained by adequately managing the number of cows allowed to graze in some parts of the savanna.  Read more in the document below:

El Choare:  An effort is on the way to declare El Choare a nature Reserve with selective extractivism.  The forest is preserved as is, while allowing the selective extraction of products such as Brazil nuts.  Read more in the documents below:
